Owen-Ames-Kimball has been “building green” since before the expression was coined. Whether our clients choose to incorporate sustainable practices in their projects, or decide to pursue Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, we have their backs. In fact, one of the only projects to ever receive a LEED Pioneer award (while the LEED rating system was still being developed in 1996) was managed by yours truly. The Herman Miller “GreenHouse” in Holland, Michigan helped put West Michigan on the map as a national leader in sustainability. And we are so proud to have been involved.
We were also one of the founding members of the United States Green Building Council West Michigan Chapter, and we maintain an active presence in the organization today.
Our current LEED stats include: 1 LEED Pioneer, 6 LEED Certified, 8 LEED Silver, 6 LEED Gold, 4 LEED Platinum and 6 LEED Expecting projects. Want your project to be added to that list? Our 32 LEED Accredited Professionals are ready to help you navigate the world of sustainable design and construction.
We don’t just talk the talk. We are passionate about green building and encourage our clients, regardless of LEED certification, to:
- -Recycle locally
- -Separate waste streams
- -Conserve water
- -Choose environmentally responsible materials (local, recycled, low carbon, etc.)
- -Explore Building Commissioning
- -Incorporate sustainability in site designs
In 1891, our founders laid the path for success. Now it’s up to us to make sure future generations have the same opportunities we had. Living and building sustainably helps us ensure another 120 years of success.
