East Elementary School is the First LEED® For Schools Silver certified elementary school in the SE United States and is a full hurricane forced wind resistant impact rated structure. The project also garnered a 2011 ABC Excellence in Construction Award for Best Institutional Project and a 2009 BIA Summit Award for Best LEED Project. The two-story structure was constructed using the tilt-wall method and sits on a 16.2 acre site. There are 38 classrooms with interactive teaching boards,digital cameras and audio enhanced sound system. A fully equiped commercial kitchen services the dining/multipurpose room. a media center, A separate physical education building is located on the site along with a covered play area, play fields and two fenced playgrounds.
