In November 2007, East Grand Rapids Public Schools successfully passed a $12.5 million bond proposal. This project, completed in August 2009, was comprised of improvements to Mehney and Memorial Fields; additions to the high school to include an auxiliary gym, training center and additional seating at the pool; a new field event center to include team rooms, concessions and restrooms; an addition to Woodcliff Center for tennis center restroom/concessions; and developing and improving sites.

Plaza renovations at Mehney Field included ticket entrances, updated concrete plaza, new paving and new parking areas (15,000 sf).  The existing athletic field received new athletic turf, an impressive two-story press box, new bleachers and sound system.

Interior work featured elevated seating in the existing pool area, providing space for an additional 400 spectators, an 8,000 square foot auxiliary gym with Kalwal (a translucent wall that uses daylight to enable heat retention), and a new 6,000 square foot training center housing new equipment.

East Grand Rapids Public Schools has worked exclusively with O-A-K on construction projects since 1996.
