The 409-space, four-level parking garage also contains a retail center on the first floor with 17,000 square feet of space. The project garnered the 2009 BIA Summit Award for Best Public Works Project.
The project is a full hurricane force wind resistant impact rated structure constructed on a compacted piling foundation. The precast concrete walls with twin T cast concrete support structure are finished with a brick facade concrete treatment. Slab thickness was increased to 6 inches and four-foot tall formed and poured solid concrete flood wall was constructed around the leasable areas. The door openings in the flood walls have custom flood panels and all storefront glass is impact rated. Sanitary sewer pipes from the building have gate valves that will be closed prior to a storm event. The project was constructed on a tight job site located on a city block adjacent to the historic county courthouse.
