(Thornton, CO) September 1, 2023 - "The Training Unit is excited to announce the start of construction for the department’s brand-new firearms range. The facility is set to be a state-of-the-art, indoor range designed to meet the evolving needs of the Thornton Police Department.
The range will feature 11 shooting lanes, each designed for 25-yard practice. These lanes will incorporate the latest in ballistic technology and safety measures to ensure the highest level of training for our officers.
In addition to the shooting lanes, the facility will also include a fully equipped classroom to accommodate educational programs and training seminars. Whether for routine training or advanced workshops, this space will serve as a hub for ongoing professional firearms development. Rounding out the features of the new range will be an office dedicated to the department's armorer. This space will allow for the streamlined maintenance, repair, and storage of firearms to enhance operational efficiency.
Construction on the indoor range has begun, with an expected completion date in the summer of 2024. Given the significance of this project, the City has prioritized timely and efficient construction without compromising on the quality or safety features of the range.
