Landmark Aviation breaks ground at Gerald R. Ford Airport

(GRAND RAPIDS, MI) – Landmark Aviation employees and project partners gathered Tuesday to celebrate the ground breaking of a new Fixed Base Operations (FBO) terminal facility. Construction of the 23,750 square foot facility will commence immediately, and the facility is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2016.

The new development, located on a 16.8 acre site at Gerald R. Ford International Airport, includes an 18,750 square foot hangar constructed of pre-engineered steel with an adjacent 5,000 square foot office space. In addition, the facility will be built using eco-friendly materials and will include a two-story atrium area that features natural lighting.

Landmark Aviation has operated a local FBO facility since July 2013. The construction of the new facility is a part of Landmark Aviation’s commitment to continually investing in its network. The company provides a wide range of aviation services and amenities, including refueling, de-icing, maintenance, concierge services, and gourmet catering. The Grand Rapids operation is capable of servicing general aviation aircraft up to a Boeing 747.

Alongside the Landmark Aviation team, many local organizations have played a role in developing this project. Partners include: Owen-Ames-Kimball Co., construction manager; Prein & Newhof, geotechnical engineer; and Butler Manufacturing, pre-engineering builders. Partners based outside of Michigan, include Rivers & Christian, Architect; Tammy Edmonds Design, Interior Designer; and CHA, Civil Engineer.
