Keeping Colorado’s mountain highways open requires more than plows and pavement — it requires facilities built to support the people who respond when conditions are at their most demanding. O-A-K built the Colorado Department of Transportation’s El Rancho 10-Bay Vehicle Storage Facility to do exactly that: give CDOT maintenance crews the space, functionality, and reliability they need to keep the I-70 corridor moving year-round.
Located near the El Rancho interchange outside Evergreen, the facility serves as a critical operations hub for CDOT’s mountain maintenance teams. These crews face extreme weather, steep terrain, and heavy traffic volumes, often responding to emergencies at all hours. O-A-K approached the project with a clear understanding that response time matters — and that every design and construction decision directly impacts how quickly crews can get on the road.
O-A-K delivered a 10-bay vehicle storage facility that includes a dedicated wash bay with a recycling system and on-site administrative space to support CDOT operations. The project scope also included a stormwater detention pond serving the new building and improvements, as well as a designated area for magnesium chloride and fuel tanks. Together, the building and site elements support CDOT’s maintenance operations at this location.
At its core, the El Rancho facility reflects O-A-K’s commitment to building spaces that support the people who serve Colorado every day. By focusing on functionality, durability, and long-term value, O-A-K helped create a facility that strengthens CDOT’s operations and helps keep Colorado’s roads safe for the communities and travelers who rely on them.
