Local joint venture construction team hired to manage Hope College’s Jack H. Miller Center for Music

(HOLLAND, MI) – G.O. Construction, local joint venture team comprised of GDK Construction of Holland, and Owen-Ames-Kimball Co. (O-A-K) of Grand Rapids, is pleased to announce they have been hired to manage the $31 million Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts project at Hope College.

This 64,000-square-foot new construction project marks the third official project the joint venture team will oversee for Hope College. G.O. Construction also managed the recently completed addition to the Haworth Engineering Center and is currently overseeing construction of the new Kruizenga Art Museum.

The partnership between GDK and O-A-K initially formed in 2010, when they were hired by Holland Public Schools to manage $40 million worth of construction for three district facilities: Holland High School, West K-7 School and Jefferson K-7 School. In 2011, G.O. Construction was hired by a privately-held corporation along the lakeshore, to manage several additional projects.

“Our relationship with GDK is strengthened with each project we are awarded,” said O-A-K President and CEO, Frank Stanek. “They are like-minded people, who value honesty and integrity. We are so grateful for the bond we’ve formed and look forward to working together for years to come.”

“Not only do our firms work well together, but this partnership has allowed us to serve Hope College to the best of our ability,” added GDK President, Chuck Geenen. “Our joint venture brings a solid commitment to the local Holland community, paired with over a century of iconic construction project experience.”

A groundbreaking ceremony for the new facility was held on Wednesday, October 23rd. The Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts will include two performance venues, classrooms, practice rooms, faculty studios and office space for the department of music. The new building is scheduled to open in the fall of 2015. HGA is providing architectural design.
