Owen‑Ames‑Kimball Completes Naples Airport Fire Fighting and Rescue Building

Owen‑Ames‑Kimball Company (O‑A‑K), a preeminent general contractor with a longstanding presence in Southwest Florida, has completed the replacement of the Naples Airport Fire Fighting and Rescue building (ARFF). The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) partially funded the 9,067 square foot building at taxiway A, next to the air traffic control building. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held later this fall.

The building includes a 3-door apparatus bay with mezzanine and equipment storage, administrative, fitness and training rooms, three dorm rooms, restrooms with showers, a kitchen and dining/day room. The overhead doors on the taxiway side of the building open in just three seconds. A new utility transformer & generator were installed. Site improvements include a parking lot, driveways, fencing, gates and landscaping. The old ARFF building, located at the north intersection of the runways, was demolished.

O‑A‑K responsibilities included general contracting, permitting, and construction phase scheduling.

The O‑A‑K project manager is Brian Filipek. The job site superintendent is John Tartaglia. The chief estimator is Abel Natali, O‑A‑K vice president. The project architects were Gary Krueger and Patrick Hartig of Schenkel Shultz Architecture. Kevin McCauley and Thomas Roda of Atkins/National Aviation Services were the project engineers.

O‑A‑K’s Florida operation is an affiliate of its parent company located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Florida operation has offices in Collier and Lee counties. The Naples office is located at 5100 Tamiami Trail North, Suite 103. For more information, contact the O‑A‑K Naples office at (239) 304-9746 or visit www.owen‑ames‑kimball.com.
