Meet Tom Stanek
Tom Stanek
Tom was raised in Southwest Michigan in the town of Decatur and now lives in Paw Paw, not far from where he grew up. He has completed a wide range of projects throughout the Midwest, including K–12, higher education, industrial, manufacturing, healthcare, food service, and retail facilities. He holds a B.S. in Construction Science Management with a minor in Business Management from Western Michigan University.
What made you interested in a construction career?
Even though my family has deep roots in the industry, that’s not what led me to it. I was taking a volleyball class at WMU when I met a friend who introduced me to the Construction Management Program. As soon as I learned about it, I knew it was exactly what I wanted to pursue.
When did you decide this was definitely the industry for you?
When I realized I couldn’t master volleyball skills—and a career in professional beach volleyball was officially off the table.
