This $2.5 million project upgraded HVAC systems at Lake Michigan College’s Mendel Center for Arts and Technology, improving reliability, energy efficiency, and occupant comfort in the 138,700-square-foot performing arts facility built in 1978. Aging, end-of-life mechanical equipment was replaced to better support the College’s growing visual and performing arts programs.
Work included modernization of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems serving the Mainstage Theatre, Hanson Theatre, rehearsal spaces, classrooms, and large event venues such as Grand Upton Hall. Construction was carefully coordinated within an active performing arts environment to minimize disruptions to academic programs, rehearsals, and public events. The project was completed in September 2025 and supports long-term operational savings and improved system performance.
