Juan Martinez Jr.

Lead Project Manager

Juan is a Colorado native with 13 years of construction management experience. His balanced approach to project management and years of on-site experience make him well-versed in every phase of construction. He is passionate about the success of every project he manages; a team-player who prioritizes his clients’ needs, and is driven by exceeding expectations.

Why did you choose the construction industry?

I have always enjoyed building things. Growing up, my favorite toys were Legos, erector sets, K’nex, and Lincoln Logs. My dad worked in construction; and, when I got to go to work with him, I was always fascinated by watching a building being constructed.

What do you do in your free time?

I love doing activities in the outdoors with my family, especially fishing with my kids.

What else should we know about you?

I grew up in Westminster, Colorado, and I'm the youngest of three older sisters. I went to a small private school in wheat ridge for grades 1-12. My graduating class was three total. After high school, I attended Colorado State University and got my bachelor’s in construction management.

"I really enjoy the people I work with at O‑A‑K. They drive me to be the best that I can be at my job."

Built Through Partnership - Colorado Bureau of Investigation Toxicology Lab

Owen-Ames-Kimball recently celebrated the completion of the State of Colorado Bureau of Investigation’s new Toxicology Lab, a project led by Project Manager Juan Martinez Jr. and Senior Superintendent Juan Martinez Sr.

This project has been years in the making. Funding for the lab was approved approximately two years ago, but when the project was initially bid, it came in over budget. The O-A-K team worked diligently alongside the owner and design team to value engineer the project, bringing it within budget without compromising quality or function.

The new facility includes a wet lab and instrument lab designed to give forensic scientists advanced tools for investigations. With these new spaces, CBI now has the capability to process toxicology samples more efficiently and consistently meet critical deadlines—an essential component of their mission.

Delivering this highly technical project required close coordination and collaboration. O-A-K brought everyone together, creating a true partnership between the owner, architect, and contractor. As challenges arose, the team worked quickly to problem solve, maintain clear communication, and keep the project on schedule.

Construction also took place within an occupied facility, meaning the CBI’s vital DNA database had to remain fully operational throughout. To achieve this, O-A-K carefully demolished an existing dock and sequenced construction in a way that allowed ongoing operations to continue seamlessly.

At the project’s completion, the CBI team surprised Juan Sr. and Juan Jr. with a special “Juan in a Million” award in recognition of their leadership and dedication.

Congratulations to Juan Sr. and Juan Jr. on this well-deserved recognition, and to the entire O-A-K team for delivering a facility that will strengthen forensic science across the state for years to come.

Castle Rock Fire Station 156 & Logistics Center Breaks Ground

Construction is underway on Castle Rock Fire Station 156 and a new Logistics Center, a project that will strengthen emergency response and support services for one of Colorado’s fastest-growing communities.

Owen-Ames-Kimball joined the Town of Castle Rock, Castle Rock Fire and Rescue, and project partners to mark the start of construction. As Construction Manager/General Contractor, O-A-K is working alongside RS&H and Dunakilly Management Group to deliver a facility designed to support both frontline response and the behind-the-scenes operations that keep it running.

The project combines a new fire station with a dedicated logistics and fleet maintenance facility—an investment aimed at improving response times, increasing operational efficiency, and ensuring first responders have the resources they need to serve the community.

“This station will help us continue to respond quickly when people need us most,” said Fire Chief Norris Croom. “Fire Station 156 strengthens our coverage in northeast Castle Rock and gives our crews the resources they need to serve residents safely and effectively.”

Early in the process, the team worked together to relocate the building outside of an existing floodplain. The adjustment introduced added complexity, including additional excavation, extended utilities, and the installation of a 30-foot soil nail retaining wall. By addressing these challenges during design and preconstruction, the team was able to maintain the building’s overall program while setting the project up for long-term performance.

Once complete, the facility will support the department’s Logistics Division and Fleet Support team, which oversees the maintenance and coordination of emergency response vehicles. The new station will also expand coverage for surrounding neighborhoods, helping the department keep pace with continued growth in Castle Rock.

This project reflects a shared commitment between the Town and its partners to invest in infrastructure that directly supports public safety and community well-being. O-A-K is proud to partner with Castle Rock Fire and Rescue and the broader project team to bring this facility to life.
