This new public safety station replaces a former fire station, which was originally constructed in 1952. The new station brings together the police and fire departments, separated by a truck bay. Other features include a multipurpose community space that doubles as a training room, a full-service kitchen, sleeping areas, laundry rooms, a fitness room, locker rooms, a lounge area, an enclosed terrace and courtyard, and covered parking for patrol cars. The construction of the building incorporated many sustainable elements, which led it to achieve LEED Silver certification.
