This improvement project won the 2013 FL Dept. of Transportation General Aviation Airport Project Award for the rehabilitation of Runway 4-22 and Taxiway E relocation. The 6 phase improvement project included reconstruction of Runway 4-22, reconstruction of portions of Taxiway D, relocation of Wind T and construction of segmented circle, reconstruction of Taxiway E, regrading of effluent ponds, installation of new security fencing and removal of existing fence and trees while maintaining airport security and adjacent golf course modifications. Since rehabilitation, Rrunway 4-22 is today relabeled Runway 5-23.
