The Colorado Bureau of Investigation’s Toxicology Lab Addition expanded the state’s forensic infrastructure with 3,000 square feet of highly specialized laboratory space. The project included a wet lab and instrument lab designed to support the precision, security, and efficiency required for time-sensitive toxicology analysis.
Construction occurred within a secure, fully operational 24/7 facility, requiring careful sequencing to protect ongoing forensic operations. To maintain uninterrupted generator service supporting both the active laboratory and DNA database, the team stabilized the existing generator pad with helical piers while constructing the new foundation nearby. Temporary containment measures, including a controlled anteroom, were implemented to prevent dust and contaminant migration during construction.
The completed facility now supports up to ten toxicologists analyzing blood samples from suspected impaired drivers statewide and demonstrates expertise in delivering complex projects within sensitive, operational environments.
