The new Nickels Intermediate building holds 850 students, with room for future growth. The new school contains innovative classroom spaces, a state-of-the-art science lab, STEM classrooms, breakout spaces for individualized learning, a full-size gym, and choir, band, and art rooms. In addition to the 21st-century learning spaces, there is also a focus on the safety and security of students with secure vestibules, access control, and surveillance cameras.
