Along with being LEED Silver Certified, Peace River Elementary School was the recipient of a 2008 BIA Summit Award for Best LEED Project and a 2009 ABC Excellence in Construction Award for Best Institutional Project - Over $20M. This two-story school is a full hurricane forced wind resistant impact rated structure constructed with the tilt-wall method adjacent to the existing school. The 126,000 sq. ft. building houses 47 classrooms, media center and a multipurpose/dining area serviced by the fully equipped commercial kitchen. Also on the 12 acre site is a separate physical education building, covered play area, play fields and two fenced playgrounds.
