O‑A‑K provided construction management services for a $22 million renovation to Union High School, a 50-year-old school, and one of five high schools in the Grand Rapids Public School district. The school is located on the west side of Grand Rapids and has a diverse student body, an active athletics program, and a strong ROTC program. The district determined that renovating the existing building on the current site was the most effective strategy for completing upgrades to the school.

Building improvements included:

• Renovating locker rooms
• A new security office, and secure vestibule
• A complete renovation of the Red Hawks’ gym
• Renovating the existing cafeteria and food service equipment
• Renovating the existing shop wing into new classrooms
• Classroom resizing
• Mechanical, electrical, I.T., and A.V. upgrades
