Lincoln Center Renovation Boosts Accessibility

Lincoln Development Center is one of three facilities located on Kent ISD’s Lincoln Campus in Grand Rapids Township. The school serves students ranging between 4 - 26 years of age who have special needs that exceed the capacity of the local school districts.

The primary focus areas for this $4.3 million fast-track renovation project were:

  • Upgraded finishes & restrooms in nearly every classroom to support student needs and ADA-compliance;
  • Energy & security upgrades;
  • Minimized disruption via a condensed 10-week period. With the exception of one classroom (strategically phased to work around the school), the entire project was completed within this timeframe.

Scope included a new building entrance and security vestibule, infill of a pool to create new restrooms, upgraded electrical wiring and HVAC throughout the building, replacement of rooftop heat recovery units, completely upgraded restrooms with ADA-compliant design, new flooring, paint and architectural finishes.
